Turkey's Famous İntellectuals To Perform Poems Within Day Of Peace Event
The Karşıyaka District Municipality in Aegean province of Izmir will celebrate the Day of Peace on September 1, with a special event. This year, famous poets, authors, cinema and vocal artists will give peace messages to Turkey and the world. The famous intellectuals, artists will speak up for peace.
The Karşıyaka District Municipality in Aegean province of Izmir will celebrate the Day of Peace on September 1, with a special event. This year, famous poets, authors, cinema and vocal artists will give peace messages to Turkey and the world.
The famous intellectuals, artists will speak up for peace in Izmir, while thousands of people have been attending peace rallies across Turkey, and NGOs and some opposition parties keep calling on sides to halt violence in southeastern Turkey. More than 50 members among the Turkish security forces have been killed in alleged PKK attacks, while Turkish forces recently announced killings of around 780 PKK militants, after the halt of the 2013 Kurdish problem focused peace process .
The event to take place at Bostanlı Suat Taşer Amphitheatre will host legends of the cinema and literature scene of Turkey, including Akan, Rutkay Aziz, Timur Selçuk, Ataol Behramoğlu, Tuna Kiremitçi, Nebil Özgentürk and Metin Uca.
At this special night, famous intellectuals from Romaine and France such as Nikolae Dabija, Sofia Nazaridze, Nouri Jarah, Carolina Bologan and İon Deaconescu will give peace messages through rhymes.
While famous names such as Düş Gezginleri, Haluk Şahin, Haluk Çetin, Nilüfer Akdoğu, Evrim Keskin Özülgen, Kemal Anadol, Tuğrul Keskin and Namık Kuyumcu will be attending the event, Gülsen Tuncer and Altan Gördüm, two doyens of Turkish theatre, will be hosting the event.
The poem performance will be enriched with documentary screenings during the event.
