One person has been killed and three others have been injured after a car crashed into a home garden after flying off a street and through a row of hedges in Istanbul's Üsküdar district.
Serpil Dener, 58, died, while three other people, Nuri Evliyazade, Leyla Argon and Hülya Kaptan, were injured after the driver of the car lost control of his vehicle, flew off Üsküdar's Hafız Mehmet Bey Street at an altitude of one meter and crashed into the garden where the four were among a total of seven people having drinks around 2: 30 p.m. on Aug. 16.
A large number of ambulances and firefighters were dispatched to the scene. Dener's body was taken to the morgue of the public hospital in Istanbul's Kartal district.
Orhan Argon, who escaped the incident uninjured, said he and his relatives were having tea when they heard a sudden noise.
"We heard a sudden noise fading in right before a car fell down on us. Seven people sitting in the garden were under the car. My sister was stuck under the car and she died. We took my mother and older sister to hospital," Argon said after the crash, which occurred while the seven were relaxing in the garden of their three-story house located on Bestekar Selahattin Pınar Street in Üsküdar's Salacak neighborhood.
