Actor Elijah Wood, or the Frodo of blockbuster Lord of the Rings movie, came to Turkey Mediterenean resort town of Antalya for a DJ performance within international EXPO 2016 events and planted the 15,000th sapling in the EXPO area, to rise to total 25,000 of 119 plant species.
Having planted hackberry saplings, 31-year-old American actor tied his name plate around the trunk of his sapling, and then watered its sap, to be the "water for life" as said in Turkish, at the EXPO 2016 Antalya exhibition platform.
Wood even promised to travel back to Antalya and revisit his tree marking his name, in the future.
The event in Antalya is held within EXPO that is a world's fair or universal exposition of technological, scientific and cultural developments of the contemporary period and beyond.
As the two children mascots of the EXPO Antalya shows, Turkey's 2016 Horticultural Expo aims to provide opportunity for children to experience the environment around them, and learn sustainable development and green initiatives.
